Curtin University traces its origins to the Perth Technical College, established in 1900. In 1966, the college was renamed the Western Australian Technical College, and in 1969, it merged with several specialized institutions, including the Western Australian School of Mines and the Muresk Agricultural College. In 1986, the institution was officially designated as Curtin University of Technology, becoming Australia’s first university of technology. In 2010, it was renamed Curtin University. The university is named after John Curtin, the Prime Minister who led the Australian people in resisting invasion during World War II.
