The University of Tübingen is located in Tübingen, a renowned university town in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, on the banks of the Neckar River. Number of Student Clubs and Organizations
The University of Tübingen boasts an extremely active and diverse student club ecosystem. Officially managed cultural groups include **the Collegium Musicum choir and orchestra, Campus-TV, the University Sports Center, Studio Literatur und Theater (creative writing forum), and the Zeicheninstitut (school of drawing, sculpture, and photography)**, among others. International Student Support Services
The University of Tübingen currently has over 4,000 international undergraduate and doctoral students. The international student support system is extremely well-developed: the Student Counseling Service provides individual counseling for international students in English and other languages, offering comprehensive support covering academic planning, learning difficulties, motivation issues, exam anxiety, interpersonal conflicts, mental health challenges, and homesickness. Types and Coverage of Scholarships
The University of Tübingen offers a diverse range of scholarship support to international students. The German Scholarship provides a monthly stipend of 300 euros to students with outstanding academic performance (a GPA of 1.4 or higher is required). The DAAD International Student Award is awarded annually to international students or doctoral candidates who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and social/cross-cultural commitment, with a prize of 1,000 euros. The STIBET Scholarship Program, funded by the DAAD, is intended for international students facing financial hardship. Doctoral Scholarships provide funding for up to 40 months. The Erasmus+ Program provides funding for students to study abroad for up to two semesters. The CSC-University of Tübingen Cooperation Program also provides study abroad funding for Chinese students.
Sustainability and the Green Campus
The University of Tübingen is a national leader in the field of sustainability. Since 2011, it has been the first university in Baden-Württemberg to receive EMAS certification—EMAS is the European Union’s highest-level environmental management certification. The university operates a Center for Sustainability Competence, dedicated to integrating sustainability principles into all areas of the institution. Since 2015, the university has been using green electricity exclusively and has nearly completed the conversion to energy-efficient LED lighting. Biodiversity on campus is enhanced through the installation of nest boxes and the management of green spaces as “colorful meadows”. The university has also established the “Studium Oecologicum” certificate program—students can earn this certificate by completing at least 12 credits of interdisciplinary courses on sustainability.
