Lake Tahoe, hailed as “America’s most beautiful alpine lake,” is just a 45-minute drive away, surrounded by world-class ski resorts and hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails; San Francisco is a 4-hour drive to the west.

According to the latest data from 2025, 81% of UNR graduates achieved positive career outcomes after graduation. Among the Class of 2024, 88% reported positive career outcomes, with an average salary of $64,777**. The average income of graduates 10 years after graduation is **$53,400, which is 56% higher than the national median. Healthcare, business and finance, engineering and manufacturing, and public policy are the primary fields of employment for alumni. 61% of graduates choose to remain in Nevada for full-time employment, and the university provides internship and job placement services through the Nevada Career Studio and the Handshake platform.
Strategic Planning to Meet Future Challenges: Vision 2030
UNR is guided by the “Strengthen the Pack” 2023–2027 Strategic Plan, with the goal of expanding its student body to 25,000 by 2030. In his annual State of the University address, President Brian Sandoval announced a series of major initiatives: University Hotel, Manzanita Lake Scenic Trail, state-of-the-art life sciences building, graduate student and faculty housing, the iconic Wolf Pack Way arch, and a comprehensive renovation of the Fleischmann Planetarium. The university has also launched the Pack AI artificial intelligence innovation initiative and is actively pursuing federal Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) designation to enhance educational inclusivity. Additionally, UNR is moving forward with the consolidation of five departments into three new colleges to enhance research competitiveness.
Scholarships and Financial Aid: Making Quality Education Accessible
UNR is committed to ensuring that higher education is no longer out of reach due to financial constraints—62% of students graduate debt-free, with an average award amount of $13,000**. The **Pack Promise+** program for Nevada residents offers up to **$11,750 in grants (which do not need to be repaid). Out-of-state students can receive up to $12,000 in stackable scholarships annually. For the 2026–27 academic year, in-state tuition and mandatory fees total just **$11,079. International undergraduate students can also apply for scholarships ranging from $300 to $5,000 per year; graduate students can receive funding through the Dean’s Graduate Scholarships and teaching and research assistant positions.
