Systematized Continuing Education for the Dental Profession

The North Rhine Dental Association has established a comprehensive system of continuing dental education that provides career paths for dental practitioners at all levels:

1. Dental practice management specialist (Fachwirt für Zahnärztliches Praxismanagement, FZP)

This is one of the Association’s most representative continuing education programs. The one-year in-service training program consists of 462 hours and covers six modules: quality management, financial accounting, business operations, information technology, human resources and training management. The cost of the course is 3,500 euros and the final examination fee is 400 euros. Eligible candidates can apply for funding from the Act on the Promotion of Professional Advancement (AFBG).

2. Training for dental specialists (Fachzahnarzt)

The Association offers training in two specialty directions, orthodontics and oral surgery. The training standards are based on the model continuing education regulations of the German Federal Dental Association (Bundesanstalt für Dentistische Gesellschaft für die Fachzahnarzt).
