Interdisciplinary Educational Innovation Leading the Future
The UA is at the forefront of interdisciplinary education in the United States. In the fall of 2026, the UA will launch Arizona’s first and only Integrated Business Engineering (IBE) undergraduate program. Developed jointly by the College of Engineering and the Eller College of Management, the curriculum consists of 40% engineering courses, 40% business courses, and 20% project-based practical courses. Starting in their freshman year, students will simultaneously study systems design and business planning, building product prototypes with their own hands and drafting accompanying business proposals. This educational model—where “engineers understand business and business professionals understand engineering”—precisely addresses the tech industry’s urgent need for multidisciplinary talent.
In the fall of 2025, UA also launched two new undergraduate majors: Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience. The Artificial Intelligence major trains students to develop and apply machine learning and intelligent systems; the Neuroscience major comprehensively explores the mysteries of the nervous system, ranging from the genetic and protein levels to complex behavioral mechanisms. The establishment of these two majors marks UA’s continued expansion into cutting-edge technology fields.
In addition, UA’s Management Information Systems (MIS) program is ranked among the “Big Three” alongside MIT and Carnegie Mellon University, having been ranked in the top three in the United States for 38 consecutive years. The College of Engineering offers 17 undergraduate majors, covering fields such as aerospace, biomedical, and optical engineering.
Tucson: An Academic Oasis in the Desert
UA’s main campus is located in Tucson, Arizona’s second-largest city. With over 300 sunny days per year and average winter temperatures of 18–24°C, the city enjoys warm, sunny weather year-round.
