Degree Accreditation: Professional Qualifications Recognized Across Europe
HoGent’s degrees are accredited by Flanders and widely recognized within the Belgian and European Union education systems. Whether it is a three-year Bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS) or a two-year Master’s in the Arts (120 ECTS), the Hogeschool Gent Degree provides a direct pathway to employment or further study. Particularly noteworthy are the four Master’s programs in the arts offered by the university’s School of Arts (comprising the Royal Academy of Fine Arts KASK and the Royal Conservatory), which enjoy a prestigious reputation within the European arts community.
Dual Degrees and Joint Programs
HoGent has established exchange and dual-degree networks with over 150 partner institutions worldwide. The most representative example is the European Joint Degree in Biotechnology—a collaboration with four European universities of applied sciences in France, the Netherlands, and other countries. Students can complete their studies across three countries and receive a degree jointly awarded by multiple universities upon graduation. In the arts, KASK offers semester-long exchange programs with institutions such as the University of the Arts London and the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris; outstanding students can earn certification for a graduation project jointly supervised by both institutions. Additionally, under the framework of the Ghent University Alliance, students can seamlessly transition from courses at HoGent to master’s programs at Ghent University, achieving a dual-track progression combining “applied practice and research.”
Employment Rates and Career Development Support
The HoGent Career Center hosts two major job fairs annually, attracting over 120 companies, including well-known firms such as Agristo Food Group, Volvo Trucks, Barco Electronics, and the Belgian government. The latest employment survey shows that 94% of graduates find employment or start their own businesses within six months of graduation, with placement rates exceeding 85% in the fields of biosciences, information technology, and nursing. The average starting salary (after tax) for graduates is approximately €2,200 per month, with salaries typically increasing by 40%–60% after five years of employment. The university’s unique “Alumni Mentor Program” pairs recent graduates with working alumni, offering one-on-one career counseling and opportunities for internal referrals.
