Hands-On Philosophy: Written in Every Course
The founder Fresenius’ core philosophy of “teaching, research and practice are closely linked” has been passed down to the present day. In the Faculty of Health and Social Affairs, 11.1% of lectures are taught by practicing practitioners, and 70.9% of undergraduate theses are done in direct collaboration with companies – meaning that the majority of students are deeply involved in real-life industrial projects before graduation.
The university has established long-term cooperative relationships with globally recognized companies such as Bayer and Roche. Since 2008, the cooperation with the diagnostics company DiaSys has continued, giving students the opportunity to complete their theses in a real company environment, with visiting professors from DiaSys supervising their theses on a permanent basis, and with the support of a “German Scholarship”. This “learning by doing” approach gives the Hochschule Fresenius Urkunde a real value in the eyes of employers.
Location and urban resources: a network of campuses in Germany’s economic capitals
The Fresenius University of Applied Sciences has nine campuses, all of which are located in the major economic centers of Germany: Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Wiesbaden and many more.
This wide distribution means that students can study and live directly in Germany’s most dynamic economic and business environment. The Berlin campus is in the heart of the capital and the Wiesbaden campus is in the capital of the state of Hesse. Each campus has modern libraries, laboratories and sports facilities, and some offer student accommodation.
International cooperation and exchange: a globally oriented academic network
Internationalization is one of their core strategies at Fresenius. They work with fifteen partner universities in ten countries, and students can study abroad through the Erasmus+ program or direct exchange. Full-time business students can also choose to do an “integrated semester abroad” in New York, Shanghai or Sydney.
They offer ten degree programs in English, which attracts many international students who do not speak German but want to study in Germany. The AMD is also a full member of the International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes (IFFTI).
