School Certification and Professional Qualification
HSBI is a German system-accredited university, which has the right to independently certify its degree programs. On June 27th, 2023, HSBI passed the system re-certification of the German Certification Committee, which is valid until 2030. In 2025, a number of degree courses passed the certification one after another-on April 14, a certification was approved without additional conditions until August 31, 2033; On July 14, another item was approved with no additional conditions; On July 28, a certification was approved with conditions. Mental Health and Counseling Services
HSBI provides students with free and confidential psychosocial counseling services. The consultation covers learning planning, motivation promotion, coping with the third exam, fatigue and stress, exam anxiety, lack of motivation or procrastination, academic doubts and graduation support. The consultation usually lasts for 45 minutes, and multiple appointments can be made, supporting face-to-face, telephone or online. Bielefeld main campus provides on-site consultation without appointment from 10: 00 am to 12: 00 am every Tuesday. The school does not provide psychotherapy, but it will help students find suitable treatment resources.
International student support service
The International Office is a one-stop service center for international students. Freshmen can attend the two-week Freshers‘ Weeks, which includes intensive German courses and free cultural and leisure activities. The INTutoring Program is taught by senior international students to help freshmen adapt to campus life. The language center provides preparatory German courses and learning-related German courses. Students can also learn English, Spanish, French, Italian or German through the speexx platform. International students can also use the HSBI guide to get all-round advice before and during school. The consultation hours of the International Office are from 10: 00 am to 11: 30 am from Monday to Wednesday and from 14: 00 pm to 15: 30 pm on Thursday.
Selection and evaluation of campus catering
The catering in HSBI is operated by the Student Service Center (Studierendenwerk) and is famous for its low price. Students can use CampusCard to pay in canteens and cafes. There are many dining places on campus. According to a survey, the negative experience rate of HSBI Cafe in bielefeld Campus is relatively low. Students can also view the canteen menu in real time through the “Mensa Bielefeld” application. In addition, the sustainable flea market held by the school regularly provides opportunities for second-hand goods trading.
Characteristic projects and curriculum innovation
HSBI is famous for practicing embedded teaching. The school has 44 undergraduate courses, 31 master courses and 10 certificate courses. In the dual system project, students can be employed and studied in the whole process of the enterprise. The master program of “Integrated Technology and System Development” in Minden Campus adopts an interdisciplinary approach to analyze modern industrial technology.
In engineering education, the school uses Siemens NX and Teamcenter software to carry out project-based learning. The school also promotes new teaching forms such as blended teaching and micro-certificate. In 2026, three new enrollment projects will be added: electrical engineering and intelligent control, software engineering and business administration. International students can also participate in the “3+1” dual-degree training mode, and they can get a Sino-German dual degree after completing their studies.
