Feelings During the Process of Getting a Pittsburg State University Diploma

What Really Changed Me Was the Classroom, Not the Rankings

It wasn’t until the semester started that I realized this school’s greatest asset isn’t found on any ranking list. There are only 17 students per class on average. The professors know you, and there’s no way to avoid their questions. Most of my professors have two or three decades of industry experience; they don’t just teach dry theory, but share real-life case studies from their own careers. Once, when I didn’t quite understand a concept in class, the professor went out of his way to send me three relevant research papers after class. This sense that “you’re not just a student ID number” was something I hadn’t anticipated at all.

Pitt State offers more than 200 degree programs, covering fields such as business, engineering, education, and the arts. The business school is AACSB-accredited, and the engineering school is highly regarded in Kansas. No matter what major you choose, you’ll find a clear path to graduation. Thoughts on the Process of obtaining a Pittsburg State University Diploma

The hardest part wasn’t attending classes—it was fitting in

When I first arrived on campus, I faced cultural differences, language barriers, and loneliness—I experienced them all. But the university has a program called Pitt Pal, which pairs freshmen with current students to take you out to eat, go shopping, and help you get familiar with the area. My Pitt Pal took me to see the Fourth of July fireworks and went hiking in the Ozarks. These little moments gradually turned a strange place into “home.”

Someone once said something to me that has stayed with me ever since: “Pitt State has felt like a home.” At the time, I didn’t quite understand it, but four years later, I get it completely.

If you can’t make it to campus, there’s another path

After starting my career, I wanted to continue my education, so I enrolled in Pitt State’s online MBA program. It’s a 7-week course format with no fixed class times—you set your own pace. The professors are the same ones who teach the on-campus courses. One alumnus said the online program allowed him to “come back 25 years after leaving school and feel right at home.”For me, the beauty of this path is that you don’t have to put your life on hold to keep moving forward.

It wasn’t until the day I received my diploma that I truly understood its significance

Pitt State’s graduation rate for international students is nearly 100%. The school’s philosophy is simple: once you’re here, they’ll help you graduate.

The post-graduation employment rate is also impressive, hovering around 96% overall. The average income for graduates one year after graduation is approximately $45,942. But for me, the greatest takeaway was:I learned to find my footing in an unfamiliar environment, to proactively seek out professors with questions rather than passively waiting for answers, and to apply what I learned in the classroom to real-world work.

Pitt State can’t offer you the prestige of an Ivy League school. But it can give you a quiet, unhurried small town, a group of professors who genuinely care about you, and a graduation path so clear that there’s no need to guess.
