Georgia State University was founded in 1913 as the ‘Evening Business School’ of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Over the past century, GSU has grown to become one of the nation’s largest universities, with more than 32,000 students on its main campus and another 21,000 on its five suburban campuses.
In 1996, GSU received the Carnegie Foundation’s R1 (Very High Research University) rating, making it one of only four R1 public research universities in the state of Georgia.
