In 2006, KIT was named by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as one of the first three German “Elite Universities” (Elite-Uni), alongside the University of Munich and the Technical University of Munich—a distinction that represents not only the highest honor for a German university but also means increased government funding.
In the 2026 QS World University Rankings, KIT was ranked 98th globally. In the 2026 QS European University Rankings, KIT ranked 48th, successfully breaking into the top 50 in Europe and climbing 11 places from the previous year. - Ample time to job hunt: After graduation, you can apply for a “job-seeking visa” valid for up to 18 months. During this period, you are free to search for a job related to your field of study without worrying about having to “leave the country immediately after graduation.”
- Fast-track to permanent residency: Once you find a job, you can apply for the EU Blue Card. Blue Card holders can apply for permanent residency in Germany as soon as 21 months (with German language proficiency at the B1 level) or 27 months (with German language proficiency at the A1 level). This is much faster than the five years required for a standard work visa.
