Faculty and Teaching Characteristics: Personalized Tutoring in Small Classes

The Monash College Diploma Program is officially designed by Monash University, and the teaching standards and assessment system are fully aligned with that of Monash University. Small class sizes allow for plenty of interaction between teachers and students, and teachers provide personalized tutoring that is tailored to the learning pace of international students. As Monash College says, “Here, we are all educators at heart – united by a shared commitment to help our students succeed”. Teaching encourages students to think and ask questions, and allows them to take ownership of their learning. All Diploma programs are developed in conjunction with academic staff at the corresponding college to ensure a smooth transition to undergraduate level. The College also has a dedicated Learning Support Team that provides one-to-one assistance with homework guidance, exam preparation and academic writing.

Featured program: Mini MIG Masterclass – an exclusive and innovative experience for diploma students

In March 2025, over 200 Monash College students participated in the Mini Monash Innovation Guarantee (MIG) Masterclass. This is a flagship program designed exclusively for College students and is open to all students without the need for an application or interview. The Masterclass focused on key workplace skills such as innovative thinking, creative ideation, human-centered design and network expansion. This Australian university diploma is a badge of honor for my growth.

The first lecture was delivered by Nathaniel Diong, a finalist for Australian Young Person of the Year 2021, who led the students to master the innovative mindset, while the second lecture was delivered by Jahin Tanvir, co-founder of Startup School Australia, who delved into the importance of network expansion. After each talk, students had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with industry leaders from top global organizations such as Microsoft, KPMG and Sustainability Victoria. Feedback from participating students was positive, with more than 80% reporting greater confidence in their ability to collaborate and explore their curiosity.

International exchange and cooperation programs: in-depth development of global perspectives

Monash University has an extensive network of collaborations around the world. For example, the School has renewed its cooperation agreement with the Suzhou Industrial Park for the period 2026-2030, and the Monash Suzhou Institute will continue to serve as an anchor institution to deepen its cooperation with China; an elite Master of Management and Global Business program has been launched in partnership with the ISB Institute in Vietnam; and new pathways to further study have been expanded with the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. In addition, the school offers a semester exchange program that allows students to study and transfer credits to partner institutions around the world. Around 400 Monash students participate in the Vietnam Global Internship Program each year. Monash students are immersed in this international ecosystem from day one, providing a cross-cultural foundation for future careers on the global stage.

In terms of health support, the College provides student counseling services to help students cope with stress, anxiety, homesickness and other personal disturbances; the Student Participation Team assists in solving practical problems in life such as accommodation, transportation, shopping, etc.; and the Career Counselor provides guidance on course selection and career planning. The comprehensive support system ensures that every Diploma student can focus on their studies and realize their full potential in a safe and caring environment.
